Satirical Science Fiction by Lisa Pell

Dystortions: 100 Hues of Purple and Dystortions: Purple Haze  hold a funhouse mirror up to modern life on Earth distorted on another planet. With sharp wit and a surreal edge, Lisa Pell skewers technology, politics, and human nature in tales that are as thought-provoking as they are entertaining. For mature audiences.

Written with the same irreverent humor that runs through Lisa's blog and cookbook, Dystortions takes on the absurdities of the digital age, the quirks of human behavior, and the strange new world we all inhabit. Fans of dark comedy, speculative fiction, and sharp social satire will find plenty to love, and maybe also hate when violence goes overboard.

What Readers Are Saying

A Must Read for All...

November 11, 2016 — Danielle Urban

"Dystortions: 100 Hues of Purple by Lisa Pell is fast-paced and thrilling. The plot doesn't wait for readers. Instead, it instantly takes them on a journey through time and space. Addy is a character unlike any other. She starts off like an everyday fictional character then progressing into a whole another category. Her thoughts and actions are what propels readers to look deeper. Traveling from single to married then, arrested and convicted, Addy never has a boring moment in her life. Lisa Pell has woven a piece of literature that is thought provoking. Each situation gets harsher and more cruel. Action, adventure, and fantasy all brought together in one marvelous volume. I was surprised. This book's tale was unlike many I have read. It was rich, bold, and engaging. Truly enjoyed reading it. Overall, I recommend it to readers everywhere."

One of a Kind

"A very engaging book. One frankly a little out of my usual reading preference. That being said I did enjoy reading it. I liked the author's writing style and I must say it is refreshing to see such a vivid imagination put to paper. Too often books are like Hollywood — just a rehash of what's gone before. I certainly can't say that in this case. Lisa Pell in my mind has written a fantasy/sci-fi/romance unlike anything I have ever read."

Excellent scifi mystery

December 12, 2016 — Majanka

"Dystortions: 100 Hues of Purple tells the story of Addy O'Malibul, a former journalist who is convicted of murder and imprisoned on the planet Malaprop, which is strikingly similar to Earth. I enjoyed the parallel universe of Malaprop, and how they want to be like Hearth, and how everyone, politicians and media alike, twist words to rewrite history and change facts — not that very different from earth, if you look at the core of it. Addy was an amazing character. She started out as your every day protagonist with a pretty regular life, until things turned south for her, and she had to adapt to her new circumstances of life. I especially liked the way she changed and grew throughout the story. The plot also has a good amount of humor, and the writing is good too. This is an excellent scifi mystery for fans of the genre."
